Three Store Employees Tied Up As Foodland Is Robbed
< < Back to three-store-employees-tied-foodland-robbedUPDATE 10:45 a.m. Athens Sheriff Pat Kelly says the man suspected in robbing the Foodland in The Plains Wednesday night could be connected to a series of other robberies in several counties around the region.
Kelly said his office received calls from other sheriff's offices around the area informing his investigators the suspect is also being looked at for other crimes.
Kelly says his deputies are looking over surveillance footage and that the investigation is ongoing.
It was a scarey night for three employees of the Foodland store in the Plains.
Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly reports an armed man robbed the store shortly after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night just after the store closed.
Kelly said the man had been in the store the previous night explaining to employees that he had lost his cell phone and he needed to look for it.
He came back on Wednesday just before closing asking if he could go to the back and look further.
When the store closed he pulled a gun, and using zip ties, tied the three employees together and placed them in a back room.
The man left in a four-door light colored vehicle, possible a Sonata or similar vehicle.
He was wearing a gray pullover with a red ball cap.
Kelly said an enhanced picture of the robber will be published today.
He is asking for help from anyone who might know who the bad guy is.
