Rio Women Picked Ninth In Preseason Poll
< < Back to rio-women-picked-ninth-preseason-pollThe Rio Grande women’s soccer team was picked to finish ninth in the Mid-South Conference in the 2013 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, according to RioRedStorm.com.
The RedStorm placed ninth out of ten teams in the conference, finishing with 24 points. NAIA Champions Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College earned nine first-place votes and 81 points to top the preseason MSC rankings.
Rio Grande finished its 2012 season 6-11 with four out of the six victories at home. Among the 11 losses were a trio of one-goal setbacks and eight shutouts. Four of the losses were by one goal, which were all on the road.
Head coach Callum Morris has eight players returning, who were either full- or part-time players on the squad with just one senior – defender Mary Beth Schramm. Along with the eight returners, Rio has several freshmen on its roster as well.
The RedStorm open against Mt. Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
