A trial date for a New Lexington Village councilman charged with child endangering and drunk driving could be set within 30 days.

The Perry County Tribune reports a pretrial hearing for Trent Thompson was held Tuesday in Perry County Court.

In July, Thompson pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident July 5th when he allegedly crashed a borrowed car into a parked car following New Lexington’s Fourth of July celebrations. A six-year old passenger in Thompson’s car was apparently not wearing a seat belt and suffered a concussion during the accident.

According to a report obtained from the New Lexington Police Department, Thompson admitted to having consumed three beers approximately two hours before the incident. The report also states the child was not at the accident scene when police arrived and that Thompson had someone take the child home.

Thompson was not arrested the night of the incident but was taken to the police station and given a field sobriety test and submitted a urine sample to test his alcohol level. Test results obtained by the Tribune measured Thompson’s alcohol level at .147. A .11 test result is considered over the legal limit
