D.J. Cooper Drawing New Interest from NBA
< < Back to ?p=127326It appears as though D.J. Cooper may be making a move back to the States in the coming months.
According to Eurobasket.com, the former Ohio guard will receive a contract offer from a Western Conference playoff team as early as July 1st. At this point in time, it is unclear which team will give the offer to Cooper, though he did work out for the Portland Trail Blazers before the 2013 NBA Draft. Cooper also played for the Golden State Warriors Summer League team in 2013.
It should not come as a surprise that Cooper is receiving interest from NBA teams. In the 2013-14 season, the Chicago native set the all-time assist record for PAOK, which earned him Best Five honors for the Greek Basket League. Then he did the same thing in his time in the VTB United League this past season.
It has been a big month for Cooper, as earlier this month, he earned his degree from Ohio University, which makes him eligible to have his number retired by the Bobcats. While in Athens, Cooper became the only player in NCAA history to score 2000 points, dish out 900 assists, grab 600 rebounds and record 300 steals.
