< < Back to ?p=129300Ohio University’s Performing Arts Series is set to kick off its 2015-16 concert series with rock band Third Eye Blind, Friday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
Since 1997, Third Eye Blind has recorded four albums and assembled a “best of” collection. Dopamine, their first studio collection in six years, was released in June.
Formed in San Francisco in 1993, the band charted two Billboard Top 10 hits with “Semi-Charmed Life” (#4) and “How’s It Going to Be” (#9) in 1997, accompanied by constant airplay on MTV and an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Today, Third Eye Blind is enjoying a positive critical reviews for Dopamine, which, according to bandleader Stephan Jenkins, has a “big, Arcade Fire feeling to part of it, with other songs having a shoegaze kind of feel.”
Rolling Stone praised the band’s new direction and AllMusic’s Stephen Erlewine stated that “…when the record gets cooking, chorus melodies can soar and riffs can punch, creating an insistent, surging, miniaturized arena rock — music where the emotions and sound exist on a grand scale but the intent feels intimate.”
Concert Connection Pre-Sale tickets will be available July 16 at 12 p.m., while the Public On-Sale begins July 17 at 12 p.m. Visit ohio.edu/performingarts for more information.
