Traffic Stop Shooting Victim Memorialized in Roses on Campus

CINCINNATI (AP) – Volunteers helped place nearly 6,000 roses on the University of Cincinnati campus to memorialize Samuel DuBose.
DuBose was shot and killed by former university police officer Ray Tensing during a traffic stop on July 19.
Sky Evans, a family friend of DuBose, recruited volunteers to place the roses on a lawn near the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center.
Evans received most of the roses from an anonymous donor and was granted permission by the university to place them on campus. The roses spelled out “Black Lives Matter, Samuel DuBose.”
Bleuzette Marshall, UC Chief Diversity Officer, says the tribute made sense and was another way for the community to remember DuBose’s life.
DaShonda Reid, DuBose’s fiancee, helped volunteers along with some of the 43-year-old’s children.
