Krauss To Play First MLB Game In Ohio
< < Back to krauss-play-first-mlb-game-ohioFormer Ohio Bobcat Marc Krauss will play his first Major League Baseball game in his home state when he travels to Cleveland with the Houston Astros to take on the Indians. He is scheduled to play left field and bat fourth Thursday night in Cleveland.
He will face right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez of the Cleveland Indians. Krauss is currently batting .206 against righties.
“Growing up an Indians fan, I am very excited to play in the stadium,” said Krauss.
Krauss, who grew up in the Toledo area, will have a large cheering section for his visit to Northern Ohio.
“I have family and friends coming to the game and I am very excited to see everyone,” said Krauss.
Since making his MLB debut on June 21, Krauss has four home runs and 13 RBIs to go with a batting average of .193 in 44 games played. Of the 44 games played, Krauss has started 29 games.
Krauss, a left-handed batter, has struggled against left-handed pitchers collecting only one hit in 12 at-bats. After Thursday night’s game, the Indians probable starters are righty Zach McCallister Friday night, southpaw Scott Kazmir Saturday evening and right-hander Cory Kluber on Sunday afternoon.
The Indians are currently a half-game back of the Texas Rangers for the second wild card spot in the American League.
Despite growing up an Indians fan, Krauss said he hopes the Astros play well enough to knock off the Indians in the playoff race they are currently in.
