Meigs Defeats Warren, 43-18
< < Back toOn a crisp Saturday night at Warren High School, the Meigs Marauders (3-2) displayed an offensive explosion of 31 points in the second half to take down the Warren Warriors (2-3), 43-18.
A 23-point fourth quarter by Meigs (3-2) ultimately proved to be the deciding factor between the two teams.
It took a while for both teams to get their offenses going, as penalties cost both sides precious yards through the first half. Meigs took a 12-10 lead into the away locker room.
But as the temperature cooled down, the offenses heated up.
The Warriors came out of their locker room ready to put up a fight, relying on the ground game to move inside the red zone. Quarterback Austin Klintworth led the Warren rushing attack on the drive, feeding off the energy from the exuberant sea of blue shirts in the stands.
Once in the red zone, however, Warren could not cross the goal line to take the lead, as the Meigs defense stiffened deep inside its own territory. A change of possession left Meigs backed up against its own end zone, and the Warriors forced a safety to tie the game at 12.
Klintworth ended the game with 18 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The Marauders quickly responded with a touchdown and 2-point conversion to regain the lead, 20-12, entering the fourth quarter.

Meigs had three offensive stars in the final quarter with Sheets, Davis and Bartrum. The trio solidified the win for the Marauders and proved to be unstoppable for the Warren defense.
Quarterback Kalieb Sheets led the Marauders with a number of impressive passes, including a smooth throw on third-and-19 to keep a drive alive. The pass ultimately led to a touchdown by running back Michael Davis. Sheets also spent some time at receiver, hauling in a touchdown form freshman Cody Bartrum. Bartrum tossed two touchdown passes as a spell signal caller.
Sheets had over 200 yards through the air with a passing touchdown, and Davis ended the night with over 200 total yards and four scores.
Meigs takes on Nelsonville-York at home to begin TVC-Ohio play Oct. 4. Warren also plays its conference opener Friday against Jackson. The game will be Warren's fourth straight contest at home.
