Former Jackson Pastor Indicted For Alleged Sexual Conduct With A Minor
< < Back to ?p=13508A man currently serving prison time from sex crimes in Gallia County, may get more time, if he is convicted on similar charges in Jackson County.
Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Justin Lovett announced Friday that David Young, 47, a former pastor at a Jackson church, was indicted on four counts of Sexual Battery involving a minor, all felonies of the third degree.
The Grand Jury indictment alleges that Young engaged in sexual conduct with an unnamed victim on four occasions between April and June of 2007. The victim was a member of or was attending the Calvary United Methodist Church or congregation served by Young as a pastor, according to the indictment.
The victim’s name is not being released because of the victim’s age.
“Anyone suspecting child abuse or neglect needs to contact authorities without delay. Even when a child reaches adulthood, his or her coming forward is still important. All cases are investigated and are taken seriously,” said Lovett.
It has been almost a year since Young was arrested on Oct. 16, 2012 in Gallia County. Young pleaded guilty to 15 counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor in Gallia County in March, all are third degree felonies. At the time of his arrest, Young was serving as the pastor of Simpson United Methodist Church in Rio Grande. The victim was a teenage female at the church. The alleged unlawful sexual conduct took place between Sept. 25, 2011 to Sept. 25, 2012.
Young began his prison sentence on March 29. He is currently serving his 15-year prison sentence in the Madison Correctional Institution in London. If convicted on the Jackson County indictments, Young could face an additional prison term.
The case against Young will proceed in the Jackson County Court of Common Pleas.
