Local Companies Meeting the Needs of Pharmacies are Part of Ohio University’s Innovation Center
< < Back to local-companies-meeting-the-needs-of-pharmacies-are-at-innovation-centerEd Zatta is not your typical drug store pharmacist. In addition to his regular pharmacy duties, Zatta is a pharmaceutical entrepreneur who calls the Ohio University Innovation Center home. He owns pharmacies and also is creating new companies to work with regional pharmacies.
Zatta is the owner of RXQ Compounding LLC. It is a Federal Drug Administration “outsourcing facility” housed in the Innovation Center. It supplies the region with specially needed pharmaceutical compounds.
“We are able to compound drugs that are on the FDA short list as well as all compounding special pharmaceutical needs for doctors, veterinarians and hospitals in the region,” Zatta says. “We can compound ointments and drugs ‘to order’ in small batches in a short time.”
Zatta also owns RXQ Development – also in the Innovation Center. This is a new and growing company that is developing software and systems to help manage and control inventory needs of locally owned community pharmacies.
Zatta is no stranger to the special needs of community pharmacies in this region. He owns and is the president of Ravenswood Drugs in Ravenswood, West Virginia. He also owns the “Drug Store @ O’Bleness” located in the Castrop Center adjacent to Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital and the Swisher and Loshe Pharmacy in Pomeroy, Ohio.
Zatta discussed his new ventures with WOUB’s Tom Hodson.
