W. Va. Judge Rejected Wal-Mart In Putnam County

The Putnam County Board of Zoning Appeals granted Wal-Mart a permit to build the market in July.
Circuit Judge John Cummings sided Friday with a group of residents who opposed the plan because they feared it would cause traffic and safety issues.
Wal-Mart must now re-apply for a permit if it still wants to build the store, which would have been about 43,000 square feet.
Jennifer Martone, a spokeswoman for a group that appealed the zoning board’s decision, said residents are relieved. She says that traffic is “already congested enough” and that the community didn’t want a store that big.
