Diversioners Getting on the Right Track with Hocking Valley Railroad
< < Back to diversioners-getting-right-track-hocking-valley-railroadCleaning the train cars of the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad and a few lives at the same time seems to be a winning combination.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said that was the intent of using Diversioners from the Athens County Prosecutor's Diversion Program to spruce up seven railroad cars just in time for the holidays.
"Participating in group community service projects allows Diversioners to build a sense of community pride by helping out civic groups and local governments," Blackburn said.
"My desire is to rehabilitate these particiants and have then not reoffend."
The Diversioners went through each of the railway's passenger cars and decorarted them for the Santa Trains.
Seven cars in all including the two doubledecker cars were cleaned by the group.
One group of Diversioners worked in the Nelsonville Depot and helped hang the decorations, Blackburn said in a news release on Tuesday.
Those members of the railroad said they were pleased with the work of the Diversioners.
Non-profit projects like this one can use Diversioners.
