Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn is finding other ways to serve the community and keep it safe.

Blackburn's team from the Athens County Prosecutors Diversion Program focuses on rehabilitating offenders and having them not reoffend.

The team cleaned up the grounds of The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens on October 12th.  They were doing their part to spruce up the center by pulling weeds, digging, raking and sweeping.

The program has participated in several projects this year including assisting Wayne National Forest and the Nelsonville Parade of the Hills.

The next scheduled community service project will be helping the Hocking Valley Scenic railway on November 9th.

Blackburn said, "There is no better way than to have them volunteer and assist these great civic organizations and pay their debt to society."

The diversion program is established to help rehabilitate and treat first-time felons.
