With 9-2 Record, Rio Grande Heads To Mount Vernon Nazarene
< < Back to 9-2-record-rio-grande-heads-mount-vernon-nazareneAfter eight days of no play, the women’s basketball team from Rio Grande is ready to bring its energy back out to the court once again as the RedStorm make the trip to Mount Vernon Nazarene.
The RedStorm are rolling off of an impressive win against Alderson-Broaddus, a game in which nine ties and eight lead changes occurred. This win put Rio Grande into a season record of 9-2, and pushed Alderson-Broaddus into its eighth loss, making for a 0-8 record.
Sophomore forward Sarah Bonar and junior guard Brianna Thomas were, and still are, the dynamic duo for all teams to keep an eye on. Thomas, who averages 19.36 points a game, and Bonar, 17.09, have worked together to score a combined total of 401 points in their first 11 games.
The Lady Cougars are coming into this game with less explosive statistics than the RedStorm, but with a whole lot more to prove. MVNU has won only one of its first nine games, and has lost all three of its conference league games so far. The RedStorm average 89.75 points per game, while the Lady Cougars are far behind, averaging only 73.33 points per game.
The matchup between the RedStorm and the Lady Cougars will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 17, in Ariel Arena at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
