Three Arrested In The Plains Crack Cocaine Bust
< < Back to ?p=164304Three people were arrested after what authorities say was a week-long investigation into a crack cocaine operation in The Plains.
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Response Team went to 128 1/2 N. Plains Road after obtaining a search warrant regarding “criminal activities” allegedly happening at the residence, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Kevin B. Williams, 20; Sage A. Figueroa, 18, and David Leffingwell, 58, were arrested without incident at the residence. Williams and Figueroa were both charged with possession of crack cocaine and trafficking in crack cocaine.
Leffingwell, also known as “Friendly Dave,” was charged with possession of crack cocaine, trafficking in crack cocaine, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm while under a disability.
Investigators also found a handgun, digital scales and more than $2,700 in cash in the home.
“Due to Mr. Leffingwell’s criminal history, he is prohibited from possessing firearms,” the release stated. “At the time the sales occurred, surveillance documented children in the area resulting in all trafficking charges being elevated.”
Leffingwell had been part of the Athens County Property Crimes Task Force’s first meeting in 2014, where hosts of the meeting said he had spent 34 years in prison with a 10-year stint in Folsom State Prison. He was sentence in Ohio in 2010 and had been sober for four years since then.
