Eastern Tournament Preview
< < Back to eastern-tournament-previewThe Eastern Lady Eagles capped off their amazing season with a dominating 65-31 win over the Trimble Lady Tomcats last week. Heading into the playoffs, the ladies were rewarded for their 17-4 record with #2 seed and a first round bye.
The Lady Eagles will play the winner of Miller (7) vs South Gallia (10) on Saturday at Meigs High School. No matter the opponent Eastern should have no problem facing either of these teams. In Eastern’s first match-up against South Gallia, the Lady Eagles easily handled the Rebels with 55-12 win. The second match-up between the two teams was more of a competition, but the Rebels efforts fell short again losing 56-30. The Lady Eagles did not have any trouble with the Miller Lady Falcons. Eastern defeated Miller 56-36 in early December and again 62-27 in January.
The boys finish off their final two regular season games against fourth ranked Miller and third ranked Southern. The Eagles are going into the playoffs with a 8-11 record and earned an eighth seed to face off against the ninth ranked Green High School Bobcats on Feb. 21 at Meigs High School.
The Eagles have chance to advance on to the next round of the tournament facing off against a Bobcat team that has had some serious struggles this season. If Eastern can pull off a victory against this three-win Bobcat team, number one ranked Waterford stands in the way. Waterford, the TVC-Hocking champions, easily defeated Eastern both times the two team played earlier in the season.
