First Fully Rebuilt Bridge In Ohio Program Reopens
< < Back toThe state is reopening the first bridge fully rebuilt under an Ohio partnership program intended to improve bridge safety as well as adding 10 more structures to the list of those being fixed.
Transportation officials announced last fall they'd spend about $120 million in federal money to fix or replace more than 200 county and city-owned bridges over three years. The state says some projects came in below estimates, allowing more to be added to bring the total to 230.
The first projects were picked based on factors including safety and whether the bridges were open to traffic.
The first full reconstruction was the Tornado Road bridge outside Rutland in Meigs County, which reopens Friday. The Ohio Department of Transportation says the project took six weeks and cost more than $492,000.
