Police Take Guns From Accused Police Impersonator
< < Back toAuthorities seized around 30 guns, more than 15,000 rounds of ammunition, uniforms, silencers, police badges and vehicles from the central Ohio home of a man who police say tried to pull over a uniformed Akron police officer as he drove to work last week.
Akron police, sheriff's deputies and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the Lancaster home of 50-year-old David Scofield after his arrest Oct. 14. He is charged in Akron with misdemeanor counts of impersonating a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
Records show Scofield is a licensed firearms dealer and has an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification
His attorney said Scofield did not try to pull over the officer, and that police trashed his client's house.
