NY Boys Preview: Senior Leaders Will Dictate Bucks’ Season
< < Back to ny-boys-preview-senior-leaders-will-dictate-bucks-seasonThe Nelsonville-York Buckeyes will attempt to flip last year’s Tri Valley Conference standings upside down. Seniors Casey Cox, Daniel Kline, and Kyle Moore look to rebound from a disappointing 2010-2011 season and carry their team to success. The Buckeyes have height with Kline (6’4”) and Moore (6’5”), and Cox will look to them in the post for a productive offense. Kline returns as the team’s top scorer and his opponents will need to focus on finding a way to keep the ball out of his hands. The “Big Three” will be vital to the success of this team.
“We expect everything out of them. We expect leadership; we get our ball handling from them. We get our post play from them. We get everything from those three,” said coach Jay Kline. But that does not mean the supporting players on the team are not important. “Players are a dime a dozen, but teams are really special…If we get that team aspect going, anything can happen,” Kline added.
Juniors Jacob Blake and Kyle Freer will likely replace Jared Dexter and Nathan Dean in the starting lineup. The Buckeyes lost Dexter to graduation and Dean elected to leave the team. It will not take much to improve on last season’s record as the Buckeyes finished 5-15 (2-8 TVC-Ohio). “We’re never going to let down, so I’m hoping we’re going to give it 32 minutes of all out effort”.
The Buckeyes’ first chance to rebound from their unsatisfactory previous season is at home on December 2nd against the New Lex Panthers.
