More Students to Train at Charleston Area Medical Center
< < Back to ?p=237787CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – A new collaboration between the Charleston Area Medical Center and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine will establish a new regional campus for students.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports a news release says the expanded partnership will take effect next summer and means more students will train at the medical center.
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine President James Nemitz says it will benefit students and the Charleston community.
Students currently take clinical education rotations at the medical center. Nemitz said the new campus will allows them to participate in residencies specializing in anything from pediatrics to surgery.
Medical center spokesman Dale Witte says the more exposure students have there, the more like they are likely to stay in the area and the state.
