W. Va. Man Sentenced to 100+ Years In Home Invasion Case
< < Back to ?p=237854CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia man has been sentenced to more than 100 years in jail in a home invasion attack.
News outlets report 41-year-old Russell Slater of Charleston maintained his innocence Monday as he was sentenced in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
Teresa Arthur Moore testified Slater forced his way into her Charleston home with a crowbar in April 2018 and beat her. Moore’s purse, a loaded gun and some jewelry were stolen. Police found the purse at Slater’s home and two of Moore’s rings in his pocket.
A jury convicted Slater of burglary, robbery, assault, felony use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
