NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio- Friday night was all about the Panthers in this week three MVL match up between New Lexington and Morgan.

Jim Rockwell Stadium was the site for a fierce inter conference contest that quickly got out of hand for the Raiders.

A first quarter lead of 35-0 for the Panthers and a 56-0 advantage at the half tells the story best. The New Lexington offense and Quarterback Logyn Ratliff made it clear early on that they were going to score, and not much would stand in their way.

First year head coach Kevin Board certainly seems to have gelled well with his signal caller so far in the season. A two touchdown first half for Ratliff will not give Panthers fans reason to think differently. The quarterback not only scored through the ground and air, but the QB even had a 43 yard pick six to make it a first half hat trick.

The passing game was only part of the story for this high powered MVL offense. Running back, Christian Vance set the tone for the Panthers with 192 yards rushing for 3 scores.

Defensively, it was much of the same success for New Lexington. The defense was able to swarm ball carriers at the line and applied continuous pressure in the passing game. This combination made the prospect of sustaining a drive a real chess match for head coach Kovi Christiansen and his staff.

With the Panthers offense scoring on each of their first five possessions and the defense rarely allowing a first down, the final result did not hang in the balance for long.

The second half would see much of the same results as the first, as the Panthers would refuse to allow a score, blanking the Raiders by a margin of 63-0.

This convincing week three performance from the Panthers will have them sitting comfortably at 3-0. They’ll look to remain undefeated next week as the black and orange head to Maysville.

Morgan sits on the other side of that coin at 0-3. They will be looking to turn their season around in week four as they take on West Muskingum.
