WELLSTON, Ohio- Nothing could manage to stop the Vinton County Lady Vikings on Thursday. With great communication, their passing game on point, and having nothing but flawless free-throws, this group of girls showed they are one to watch out for.

The Vikings beat Wellston 70-24 with ease. They dominated on both defense and offense throughout the game.

Even though the Vikings were ahead by at least 15 points the entire game, they still put lots of effort and energy into the game. They continuously communicated with one another which was one of the key factors to such a big win.

Another key aspect that led the Lady Vikings to dominate was their passing game. Especially No. 21, Morgan Bentley and No. 4, Myriah Davis. Throughout the game, Bentley would pass the basketball half-way across the court to set up for an easy shot for Davis.

The biggest contributor to the game was Morgan Bentley. She was a key part of why the team performed so well, contributing 13 points and 5 rebounds. She flawlessly passed the ball to others and put them in positions where they could score with ease.

With the first half ending 57-16, the lady Vikings still didn’t feel the need to rest. They kept up their momentum by practicing drills and shooting throughout halftime.

After having such a dominant first half, it was decided that the second half to be a running clock.

When it came to the defensive side, Vinton County did a great job of rebounding the ball and not allowing any of their opponents to be open. In addition, the Lady Vikings blocked many of Wellston’s shots and had over 15 steals, it has become clear that these girls are not only great at offense, but their defense dominates the court.

With winning 70-24, it is clear that these lady Vikings have nothing but a great season ahead of them. The Vinton County girls play next on Saturday, Dec. 7 against River Valley at Alexander high school.
