Miller Capitalizes on Sloppy Play; Secures Victory over Tomcats
< < Back toCORNING, Ohio – The Miller Lady Falcons did their homework to prepare for the game against the Trimble Lady Tomcats and it showed this Monday night. The two teams remained head-to-head all night but it was the Lady Falcons who took home the victory 38-35.
Right from the start, Trimble had trouble countering Miller’s 3-2 zone, forcing the Lady Tomcats to take contested shots. Miller’s Hallie Joseph controlled Trimble’s Jayne Six down low in the paint, holding her to a season-low seven points on 1/7 shooting.
Heading into the locker room at the half, Miller was leading 17-15.
Early on in the third quarter, Trimble looked rejuvenated and retook the lead by outscoring them 12-8 in the frame but couldn’t pull this energy into the fourth quarter.
The Miller Lady Falcons outscored the Lady Tomcats 13-8 in the fourth quarter to finish with the win.
It was a sloppy game by both teams overall. Both teams turned the ball over numerous times and Trimble could not find an offensive rhythm.
Trimble’s Emily Young led the way for her team with 12 points. Laikyn Imler handled the ball well and had eight points of her own.
Miller’s Hallie Joseph tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Askya McFann also pulled her weight with nine points.
An unsung hero for Trimble was Riley Campbell who managed to stay on Miller’s Ashley Spencer like glue. Spencer is on her way to becoming the all-time leading scorer at Miller.
The Lady Tomcats will learn from this loss and look to get revenge this Thursday against South Gallia.
