Vanessa Collier is a young 2013 graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and she has received many accolades for the authentic sound she has shared with the world over the course of the past several years, including being named the 2019 Horn Player of the Year by the Blues Music Awards (she has received seven overall nominations for the award throughout her career) and receiving 2020 BMA nominations in the categories of Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist and Instrumentalist of the Year – Horn.

Collier will headline the 29th Annual River City Blues Festival taking place in Marietta on Saturday, March 21. WOUB spoke to her about her forthcoming 2020 full-length (to be released this May), her relationship with the blues, and the accolade she is the most proud of: emotionally connecting with her audience.
