Ohio University Makes Plans To Re-Open For Fall
< < Back to ?p=253843ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Ohio University is planning to invite students back to its campuses for fall semester.
What that fall semester will look like is still a work in progress as the university continues payroll reduction tactics and the possible restructuring of academic programs. According Vice President of Finance Deb Shaffer, changes to the furlough policy are expected to be announced Friday, May 15.
Thursday morning’s email, signed by OU’s president and provost, informed university employees that several working groups will help determine how to re-open in the safest manner possible.
Each working group will focus on different topics including, testing and quarantine needs, bringing employees back safely, academics, and student life.
Designated staff, students, and faculty will consult with public health officials and others to offer key recommendations by the end of June.
The email also warns that all re-opening plans will come with contingency plans. “We recognize the need to be prepared to respond to changes in the trajectory of the virus and decisions made by the state.”
OU has been holding online classes since March when it suspended in-class instruction to slow the spread of COVID-19.
