DeWine: Indoor Movie Theaters, Museums, Zoos and Certain Other Entertainment Venues Can Reopen Next Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOUB) — Indoor movie theaters, museums and zoos are among the entertainment venues Gov. Mike DeWine said can reopen next week under new health and safety restrictions to minimize the spread of coronavirus.
“We can continue to limit the spread of COVID-19 while we safely reopen our economy. It is up to each of us to do what we can to keep each other safe and choose to keep six feet of social distance, wear masks, and maintain good hand hygiene.” said Governor DeWine in a statement.
The following entertainment venues listed below may open beginning June 10 “if they are able to follow Retail, Consumer, Service & Entertainment Guidelines and other applicable additional guidance”:
-Aquariums
-Art galleries
-Country clubs
-Ice skating rinks
-Indoor family entertainment centers
-Indoor sports facilities
-Laser tag facilities
-Movie theaters (indoor)
-Museums
-Playgrounds (outdoor)
-Public recreation centers
-Roller skating rinks
-Social clubs
-Trampoline parks
-Zoos
“The threat of COVID-19 remains and while it’s our responsibility to keep each other safe, business owners and employees should do their part to ensure customers visit safely, by cleaning and sanitizing surfaces regularly,” DeWine wrote.
The governor has not indicated when remaining entertainment venues such as amusement and water parks can reopen.
The Ohio Department of Health announced 37,282 confirmed & probable cases of COVID-19 statewide as of Thursday, June 4 at 2 p.m. There have been 6,312 hospitalizations and 2,339 reported deaths.
The DOH makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
