Trimble Shuts Out Southern on the Tomcats on Senior Night
< < Back to ?p=272664GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB) – Mud, sweat, and tears. Those are the three words to describe the game on stormy Friday night at Glouster Memorial Stadium for the Tornadoes. It was homecoming, senior night, and pink out for the Tomcats and they were loving it.
Even though it was pouring before the game even started, the Tomcats started off hot with forcing the Tornadoes to a three and out and didn’t waste their time when they had the ball. Blake Guffey navigated himself around the Tornadoes defense for a 15-yard touchdown to get the Tomcats on the board early for their opening drive to make it 7-0.
With a couple minutes in-between, Trimble shuts down the Southern offence forcing another three and out for the Tomcats. When getting the ball back, they marched down the field through their air and ground game and ultimately ended the drive with a touchdown from Bryce Downs shoving the ball through Southern defense into the endzone from 20 yards out to make it 14-0.
Talking about air and ground game, Quarterback Tabor Lackey with the pocket collapsing and decides to take himself dancing around the Southern defense into the endzone for a 68-yard touchdown to further their lead to 21-0.
When getting the ball back into Trimble’s hands, Tabor Lackey finds Blake along the sidelines for around 15 yards and leaves the rest to his senior receiver to bring it in for an 80-yard touchdown to extend their lead 28-0.
With yet another defensive stop from the Tomcats, they give the ball back to Bryce Downs who bulldozes his way through two Southern defenders and into the endzone for a 19-yard touchdown to make it 34-0 because of a missed extra point from Trimble ending the first half.
With the second half starting, the rain was coming down harder than before. At this point, thunder pushed its way into Glouster where it was already pouring rain. After the lightning delay, the game was called, and the Tomcats take the win on their big night with their record improving to 6-2 on the year.
Their trying to keep the momentum from tonight going into next week where they’ll hopefully punch their ticket into the playoffs.
