ATHENS, OH – WOUB Educational Engagement Consultant Lori Pringle is the recipient of the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) 2022 Emerging Leader Award. The Emerging Leader Award recognizes OELMA members who have recently assumed an OELMA leadership role for the first time. This award honors members who demonstrate leadership potential and encourages members’ active participation in OELMA. In addition to her work at WOUB, Pringle is the district library media specialist for the East Holmes Local School District.
“I am honored to have received the OELMA Emerging Leader Award. Working part-time for East Holmes Local Schools and part-time for WOUB Learning Lab has provided me the opportunity to advance collaboration between OELMA and Ohio Educational Technology Agencies to positively impact media literacy education.”
The Ohio’s Ed Tech Agencies provide services that optimize the use of classroom technologies to improve student and school staff performance. The eight agencies began in 1967 to provide K-12 instructional television services to all Ohio schools as funded by the Ohio Department of Education. WOUB is one of those agencies which serves portions of eastern and all of southeastern Ohio.
In her role with WOUB, Pringle has helped bring the PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification course to Ohio. She has also presented webinars on media literacy as part of Digital Learning Day and OELMA conferences. Pringle also works with teachers and districts throughout the region connecting them with WOUB educational resources.
“Wearing my WOUB consultant hat, I provide educators access to the latest technologies and ensure equitable digital access aligned to the Ohio Department of Education Library Guidelines. For example, Cambridge and Hiland High Schools have received professional development with me and borrowed WOUB Learning Lab 3D printers, drones, iPads, and Spheros through the WOUB Lending Library which has positively impacted STEM learning.”
Pringle will be recognized at the 2022 OELMA Conference and Awards Ceremony, October 7, 2022, at 12 noon at the Dublin Embassy Suites, 5100 Upper Metro Place, Dublin, OH.
