JACKSON, Ohio (WOUB) — While being named state champions is the ultimate goal for every high school football team in southeast Ohio, it would be a huge accomplishment for the Jackson Ironmen.

“We took a tour to the Canton Hall of Fame and visited the state championship site. I told the kids I want you to see this place because the ultimate goal is to play their last game in this stadium. No Jackson teams ever reached that,” Head Coach Andy Hall said.

Last year, the Jackson Ironmen came the closest they’ve been to claiming a state title. With the help and leadership of quarterback Jacob Winters, who stepped in for Evan Spires after a torn ACL, the Ironmen were only two games away from reaching that milestone.

“The number one thing is accountability… you got to be able to go to war… and learn to never back down from anything,” says Winters.

He helped carry Jackson to win the next seven games. Picking up where they left off last season, the team seeks to have a victorious year with starting Quarterback Jacob Winters.

The first game for the Ironmen will be August 19th against the Logan Chieftains at Bill Sauer Field in Logan.
