New Warren head coach ups the ante for these modern Warriors

VINCENT, Ohio (WOUB) — The Warren Warriors head coaching job was up in the air during the spring, but in mid-April, they have seemed to find the right person for the job.
New head coach Jimmy Peyton is a former quarterback for Ironton back in the late 90’s and is now returning to coach in Southeastern Ohio after years of being in military service and coaching across other states such as Missouri and Kentucky.
For the Warriors, last season is one to look behind on with a record of 3-7 and losing in the playoffs in the first round to Bloom-Carrol.
This season however could be a turning point to the program as many young athletes return back to seek greater success. All-Ohio Honors running back Jason Williams is looking to improve his numbers with last season being very successful including rushing over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Quarterback Trent Taylor returns for his second year starting at that position. The 6’5” junior will have a lot to improve from after his first season and will have a lot of assets to get the ball to.
“We made the playoffs last year, but it wasn’t the outcome we were expecting.” Taylor said. “We’re looking to win a lot of games, but we are really looking into going to the playoffs and try to make a run.
The Warriors look to be confident going into their first season under Peyton’s guidance. Warren’s first game will be against nearby rival the Belpre Golden Eagles at Belpre High School on August 19th.
