After School 360 Events Begin

Join us for the first After School 360 event Sept 6th at 4pm. These weekly live, virtual programs are hosted every Tuesday at 4pm. Each session will feature a Read Along, a PBS Kids episode and a fun activity for your child to do. You can learn more and sign up at www.OhioLearns360.org

Sesame Street in Communities

Have you heard of this resource? The Sesame Street in Communities website is filled with activities and articles for families facing all types of challenges. As a partner, we receive books that we can share with your program or families. Here is a list of what we have now. If you’d like copies of some of them, we would be happy to send them to you. If you run a program, we can also help you figure out if you are eligible to request materials yourself. Send us an email at woublearninglab@woub.org if you are interested.

Our Ohio Documentary Film Festival

We are about to get underway with this year’s festival preparation. Last year we worked with five schools to help students prepare documentaries for our festival. If your school is interested in participating this year, we need to know soon. Schools can participate in a series of virtal and in person lectures or students can simply submit films for our festival. Email us for more information.

US History Collection

PBS Learning Media

Expand students’ understanding of U.S. History with culturally inclusive resources that bring the major people, events, and trends in history alive, while integrating often untold stories into the curriculum. Curated clips of trusted PBS programs and a diverse array of other media and interactive resources develop students’ historical thinking skills while broadening their appreciation of history’s multiple perspectives and complexity. This is a new collection and is continuously being updated so check back often.

Lending Library Feature

New cameras for check out

We have some professional grade cameras that were purchased for a project that are now available for checkout. These would be best used in production/broadcast classes. Our producers here at WOUB are willing to do some tutorials for teachers wanting to teach with them. These BLACK Magic cameras are not listed in our general checkout so you will need to contact us directly for a loan.

Camp In A Box

Boxes are on the way!

We recently received word that these Camp In a Box Kits are coming soon. We will be receiving 50 kits each for 2 different Camps. These kits are part of the Ohio Learns 360 grant which focuses on supporting learning during out of school time. We will be scheduling training any time after September 15th. Teachers who attend a training will receive a kit of ready to do activities for 20 students. There will be a K-2 set and a 3-5 set available about every 3 months for the next 2 years. Any afterschool or summer camp program is eligible to attend and receive these free materials. If you are interested or want more information contact woublearninglab@woub.org and get your program on our list so that we can begin training as soon as the materials arrive.

PBS KIDS Talk About: Perseverancia

This popular PBS digital series is now available in a Spanish version. The English version is still available with spanish subtitles but this version is produced completely in Spanish.

Real families sit down with PBS KIDS to have real conversations about how they keep going when school, sports or even learning how to ride a bike is hard. They also discuss when it’s okay to give up and try something new.

Las familias reales se sientan con PBS KIDS para tener una auténtica conversación acerca de cómo seguir adelante cuando la escuela, los deportes, o incluso aprender a hacer el “hula hula” es difícil. También, hablan sobre el momento en que está bien darse por vencido e intentar algo nuevo.
