BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WOUB) — The Union Local Jets and the Harrison Central Huskies were ready to play on Friday night.

This game opened up to a fast start when only 18 seconds into the game, Jaksan Price ran 73 yards for the touchdown. You could really feel the Jets confidence coming from the bench after that play.

As the quarter went on the Huskies started to step up on defense even stopping star running back Jaksan Price a few times who finished this game with 238 yards and 3 touchdowns. After playing well on defense the Huskies Tre Rex scored a touchdown making it 7-7.

The Jets didn’t like that at all, and QB Carter Blake used that confidence from earlier in the game to carry the ball into the end zone, making it 13-7 at the end of the first quarter. Union Local came out strong in the second quarter and Dre Saunders ran 42 yards down the field for another Jets touchdown. Tre Rex for the Huskies also scored again soon after making an amazing catch making the ball game 21-14 Union Local.

A player who really began to stand out in this game was Dre Saunders who caught a touchdown right after Tre Rex making it 27-14 Union Local. Saunders finished off the game with 6 receptions, 129 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Carter Blake, who also had a stellar performance finished off the quarter with an 18-yard carry for a touchdown.

Blake had 129 yards and 2 touchdowns this game. Jaksan Price didn’t seem exhausted from the first half at all as he ran on the field at the start of quarter three and scored another touchdown for the Jets making it 45-14 Union Local.

Union Local’s confidence and will to win would be the story of this game and they ended up winning 45-14. Something that really made me smile though was when Harrison Central’s student section went down to the field towards the end of the game and did a chant with the cheerleaders. The Huskies are lucky to have such a great student section who will stick through the game even losing by that much.

Some notable players for the Huskies were Hayden Cassidy who had 196 yards and 2 touchdowns and Tre Rex with 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Jets take on Shenandoah next week and I am looking forward to seeing how Shenandoah’s Braxton Barnett handles the tough Union Local defense.

The Huskies look to redeem their loss as they travel to East Liverpool to take on the Potters next week.
