Meigs Marauders win in style at home against River Valley

Pomeroy, Ohio (WOUB) – Another Friday night in Pomeroy, another monumental win for the Meigs Marauders boys basketball team. After a gritty win last week against Wellston they picked up another tonight, this time in a blowout victory 74-49 versus River Valley.
A 31 point first quarter had them dominating the Raiders early, and they didn’t stop there. At the half Jeremey Hill’s squad was up 20, 46-26. The scoring streak continued into the second half, as Meigs kept River Valley at bay, never letting them get within 15.
The guard play from the Marauders Friday evening was a major factor. Meigs’ crafty trio of Conlee Burnem, Cayden Gheen, and Braylon Harrison were lights out on the offensive side of the ball. Throughout the game the three seemed to score almost at ease. Combining for 47, Burnhem finished with 21, while Gheen and Harrison both ended the night with 13.
“This is a sign of what we are capable of. When you shoot the basketball well, you’re going to be successful. When you move the ball, you’re going to be successful.”
Winning two out of the last three games, the Marauders have started to get hot at just the right time. Although still in the bottom half of the TVC-Ohio, Meigs’ relentless full court press and elite three point shooting is not easy to beat. Head coach Jeremey Hill realizes the way this team is playing is not reflective of their record.
“The stats aren’t a sign of a 6-11 ball club. That’s a sign of a successful ball club.”
The boys travel to Trimble on Saturday then take onJackson at home. These non TVC-Ohio games are vital for Meigs to get ready for the tough conference schedule they face in the late season. TVC-Ohio teams should be ready for the pesky Marauders.
