Nelsonville-York Buckeyes overpowered by Fairland Dragons in Sectional Finals
< < Back to ?p=293338Proctorville, Ohio (WOUB)- The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes faced off against The Fairland Dragons in the Sectional Finals in the OHSAA tournament on Saturday night.
The game started strong with all players ready to go. Fairland came up with the lead at the end of the first quarter 11-10. Both teams played with similar schemes all the way through the end of the first half and The Dragons would maintain the lead 23-18.
The start of the second quarter was a little different. Fairland came out with energy, out-scoring Nelsonville-York 26-3 in the third quarter. The Buckeyes lost all momentum and would not be able to make a comeback in this one, losing 67-34.
Nelsonville-Yorks’ biggest struggles in the game were offense. The ball handlers were unable to execute in the second half due to Fairlands’ heavy defensive pressure . The leading scorer of the game was Fairland junior, Chase Allen, scoring 26 points. Before Allen was taken out of the game, he had the same number of points as the Buckeyes’ entire team.
