Ohio Ready to Learn

April – May Workshop Series

We still have opportunities for you to join our sessions this season. If you are interested in a session please register soon. Workshops with less than 5 participants will be rescheduled. We have lots of fun materials and PBS resources to share with you.

Virtual attendees will receive workshop materials and books in the mail after workshop completion. In-person participants will have the opportunity to network with other providers, create materials for your program, and receive books and other materials to support the topics from the workshop. Participants who attend three of WOUB’s sessions will be entered into a drawing for one of 10 Kindle Fire Tablets pre-loaded with PBS Kids games and apps.

As we move into April we are looking at Evaluating Online Information and Evaluating Online Tools. There are many considerations when it comes to online information and online tools. Our video from WVIZ Ideastream PBS will explore these topics in two parts. You can join our course at any time to earn contact hours or apply for grad credit.

Ohio Learns 360 Activities

After School 360

The new improved After School 360 program kicks off this month. Now you can request a session from us. PBS stations are providing on- demand sessions for after school programs. Your program can request a time and topic and one of us will provide a virtual session for your group. There will be a read along, a PBS kids show, and a hands on activity lead by the presenters. New Streaming Series

“What Can You Become?” is a new short series introducing kids to future career possibilities. Each episode shows a child exploring potential jobs — nurse, P.E. teacher, robotics instructor, and more! — based on their interests. Is your child a builder? Scribbler? Observer? Animal lover? Or something else? Watch to find out!

We want your input

Technology in Early Learning

The education departments of all eight PBS stations in Ohio collaborate regularly to support educators across the state. Currently the Ohio PBS Ed Techs are looking into the best ways to support teachers of early learners in integrating technology education into their classrooms. To do that, we are exploring a tech conference focused on educators for our younger learners. If you work with this group of children, we would love to get input from you.
