Hocking Instructor Chosen for Educational Holocaust Tour
< < Back to hocking-instructor-chosen-educational-holocaust-tourA Hocking College communications instructor is one of a handful of educators taking the trip of a lifetime.
Sue Fletcher was selected to tour historical Holocaust sites in Poland and Israel through a program with the Memorial Library in New York City.
According to Hocking College Spokeswoman Laura Alloway, Fletcher is one of 17 educators chosen from across the United States.
All of the educators picked for this opportunity are specialists in teaching about the Holocaust and other issues of social justice.
The group left Sunday and will spend 10 days abroad.
Alloway says Fletcher has always had an interest in Holocaust survivor stories.
"I am especially drawn to Holocaust survivor stories as a way to look at the very personal side of injustice," said Fletcher in a Hocking College press release.
When the group returns they will share their experiences in the classroom and through satellite seminars.
"Now, I will be able to visualize these stories, gain the added context of place and engage all of my senses," Fletcher said.
