Chemical Manufacturer Practices Worst Case Scenario Drills
< < Back toPreparing for the worst — that's the goal in the latest of a series of drills by Washington County chemical manufacturer Solvay Specialty Polymers.
The Local Emergency Planning Committee requires plants to have a series of four annual drills.
Solvay Specialty Polymers held the third of those drills Tuesday.
The scenario involved a leak in a tanker truck, in which the driver and a plant employee are overcome by its cargo.
Solvay Plant Manager Wally Kandel says the drills benefit Solvay employees and the emergency response agencies because they would have to work together in an emergency.
Agencies taking part in the drill included the Marietta Hazmat team, the Warren Volunteer Fire Department and Washington County Emergency Management Services.
