Former Buchtel Police Chief Expected To Plead Guilty

The former chief of police of an Athens County village is expected to plead guilty to permitting drug abuse at his court appearance tomorrow.
Athens County prosecutor Keller Blackburn said today that Kelsie Lanning will plead to a bill of information, which normally means that a guilty or no contest plea has been arranged.
The former Buchtel police chief was arrested in February after being accused of participating in a drug transaction.
Sheriff's deputies said he purchased prescription medication from an undercover agent at a Nelsonville home.
Lanning will appear in Athens County Common Pleas Court at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
