Guernsey Co. Library Employees Avoid Strike
< < Back to ?p=5675Trustees of the Guernsey County District Public Library will meet Friday afternoon to approve a new contract agreement with employees of the library system
Representatives of the district and from the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) Local 26 worked with a federal mediator and reached a tentative agreement on a contract Thursday afternoon.
Union spokeswoman Rachel Jordan McElfresh says members of the union voted unanimously to approve the agreement Thursday night.
The last minute compromise avoided a walk-out by employees of the library, who had announced plans to strike and picket outside of the Crossroads Branch of the library at noon on Friday.
The two main points of contention between the parties are focused on wages and health insurance benefits.
