< < Back to muskingum-co-investigators-looking-possible-homicideUPDATE 7:36 A.M. The sheriff's office in one eastern Ohio county is asking for help to solve the murder of a man whose body was found on the sidewalk in front of his house over the weekend.
The death of Lance Hoopes was ruled a homicide after a weekend autopsy.
It was initially thought to have been an accident.
Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said Hoopes' body was found in front of his Zanesville home Saturday morning.
The sheriff would not say how the 50-year-old man died.
Hoopes lived at the house with his mother, who has been cooperating with investigators to piece together a timeline of his whereabouts before his body was found.
Authorities in eastern Ohio are trying to determine what killed a 50-year-old man found on the sidewalk in front of his home.
The Muskingum County sheriff says the man's mother was leaving for work at about 7 a.m. Monday when she found him outside the home they share near Zanesville.
Authorities say the man didn't die of natural causes.
Investigators are asking for the public's help in trying to figure out what the man had been doing and who he was with before his death.
They have not stated a cause, but say the case is being treated as a possible homicide.
