Athena Cinema Hosts Mini Film Festival
< < Back toA two-week mini festival of films about sustainability begins Friday at the Athena Cinema in Athens.
Chris Iacofano is the executive director of the Athena.
Iacofano says the goal of the film festival is to allow viewers a unique look at the issue of sustainability.
"We're not just talking about environmental issues these weeks, we're talking about issues of wealth, such as this Queen of Versailles," said Iacofano.
The documentary Queen of Versailles will kick off the festival.
It's about a family attempting to build the largest privately-owned house in the United States.
Other movies shown throughout the two weeks include "Death by China" about the out-sourcing of jobs to China, "Last Call at the Oasis" about water and sustainability, "Island President" about global warming as well as several short films by Athens filmmakers about sustainable forestry.
Iacofano says the concept of sustainability is recurring theme on the campus of Ohio University as a part of the Common Experience Project.
