WOUB Radio Expands OU Athletics Coverage
< < Back to woub-radio-expands-ou-athletics-coverageListeners from WOUB Radio’s Cambridge, Chillicothe, Ironton and Zanesville transmitters will be able to listen to Ohio University football and men’s basketball games this year thanks to a partnership with OU Athletics.
"We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring Bobcat football and men's basketball broadcasts to a bigger segment of our region,” said WOUB interim Director and General Manager Tom Hodson. “This year we also have added ‘Bobcat Sports Showcase’ (to the WOUB television schedule) which will highlight all of Ohio University athletics and ‘Relentless,’ an inside look at Ohio's football training camp. This partnership will allow us to provide the best Bobcat coverage to all of our varied audiences through southeastern Ohio, western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky."
The broadcasts will be managed by the Citizens Bank IMG Sports Network and will open up the broadcast area for OU Athletics. IMG Network Manager Tony Castricone is excited about the new partnership.
“IMG is working hard to make Ohio athletics accessible on the radio for fans all over central and southern Ohio,” Castricone said. “The WOUB partnership also means our talented play-by-play team will work directly with the staff and students that make Ohio University one of the best journalism schools in America.”
Listeners from the Cambridge, Chillicothe, Ironton and Zanesville transmitters can continue to listen to WOUB’s NPR programming by tuning in Athens’ signal at 91.3 or by listening online at woub.org.
The first football broadcast comes on September 3 as Ohio opens the football season at New Mexico State. The hour-long pregame show begins game night coverage at 7 p.m. EDT.
WOUB-AM will carry women’s basketball and baseball during the 2011-2012 season.
