Waste Summit Spurs Feasibility Study
< < Back to waste-summit-spurs-feasibility-studyA feasibility study in Athens will be used to tackle waste and recycling issues.
The Appalachian Ohio Zero Waste Initiative (AOZWI) created the plan after a Waste to Wealth summit earlier this month in Athens.
Participants discussed research and ideas for recycling and waste management in Athens and Hocking counties.
AOZWI Initiative coordinator Kyle O'Keefe says the new plans will be used for improvement.
"We were able to really bring together a large diverse crowd and focus on rural issues and really kind of form some collaborations that might help to lead the way with the region in the future," said O'Keefe.
O'Keefe says community members need to get involved to make a difference in their areas.
"So, if community memebers wanted to get involved there will actually be an oppourtunity to take part in little task force, be it on education, infrastructure, enterprenuail activites, so they can contact us by our website ruralaction.org," said O'Keefe.
O'Keefe says the initiative is looking forward to following up with another summit.
