VIDEO: McGuffey Lane At Appalachian Color In The Hills Festival
< < Back to video-mcguffey-lane-appalachian-color-hills-festivalThe audience at this year's Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival was treated to an acoustic performance by Columbus band McGuffey Lane on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The annual event is held in Glouster, Ohio, during the second week of each October, when the color change in the Appalachian foothills is at its peak.
In addition to live music and a variety of food, the fest featured a number of exhibits and activities.
Although McGuffey Lane is based in Columbus, the band has Athens roots. Formed in 1972 by Terry Efaw, Steve Reis and Bobby Gene McNelly, the group took its name from the Athens street where Ries lived.
In the 1980s, the group toured with The Allman Brothers Band, The Charlie Daniels Band and The Judds and released several albums and singles that made the country charts.
Saturday's performance featured original members Efaw (pedal steel) and Reis (bass), as well as longtime members John Schwab (vocals, guitar) and Molly Pauken (mandolin).
