OU Could Benefit From State Internet Upgrade
< < Back to ?p=8451Ohio University and local businesses could benefit from an upgrade to the state's internet capacity that could make Ohio's network up to 10 times faster.
Sean O'Malley, who represents OU's Information Technology department, said he believes the upgrade is a solid investment for the state.
"This is a great opportunity, both for the university and for the region. This kind of service simply was not available in the state before, he said. "Now, whether it's companies or researchers or instructors, they now have the ability to take advantage of this kind of capacity where before that wasn't even a choice."
The upgrade will also help advance medical research, manufacturing, and engineering jobs in the state.
However, the university is not getting in on the action right away. O'Malley said other improvement projects need to be finished first.
