Men’s Golf: Ohio Stands In Ninth After Round One
< < Back to mens-golf-ohio-stands-ninth-after-round-oneThe Ohio men's golf team opened the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate tournament Monday by shooting 304 as a team and ended 16 strokes over par. This landed the team tied for ninth place, as the second round wasn't played due to a frost delay.
The top man for Ohio was senior Byron Firestone, who shot two strokes over par with a 74 and currently sits tied for 18th overall and five strokes off Trey Valentine, the current leader.
The Bobcats, as a whole, sit in the middle of the pack, as their lowest score was only an 80 by freshman Michael Lamping. The team is also currently tied with DePaul, a Big East team that Ohio was able to defeat just last weekend.
The Bobcats get back on the course Tuesday, as they play the second and third rounds to end the tournament. The team will then be home until next month when they travel to Pinehurst, N.C. to compete in the Pinehurst Invitational.
