UpBEAT Food for Thought Program: How to Talk with Your Doctor

July 23, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

UpBEAT is a program for those 55 years and older. Membership is free. To join UpBEAT and receive our monthly newsletter, or for program information, call Caitlin Bond, UpBEAT Program Coordinator, at (740) 566.4680.

UpBEAT Food for Thought Program provides free health education workshops and presentations for adults ages 55 and older.  The Food for Thought Program continues to meet virtually.

We all may need to see a doctor at one time or another. Whether we have regular wellness visits with our doctor, or are visiting our doctor for the first time, we can be prepared to leave our appointment feeling like the visit was of benefit. When was the last time you learned how to talk to your doctor? This is often a topic not discussed. Especially during this time, when telehealth is more accessible, and often times the best method of visiting with our doctors, this topic is very important. If you are limited to a telephone appointment, referred to as telehealth, there are a few things that will be different from an office visit. These include, your doctor not being able to do a normal physical examination or taking your vital signs, like pulse, blood pressure and temperature. Instead, knowing what to communicate and share with your doctor over the telephone, will be essential to making your “visit” of benefit.

During this presentation you will learn how to get ready for a doctor’s visit, have a successful conversation about your health concerns, make decisions together with your doctor, and good questions to ask your doctor. Join us virtually, by computer or phone, on Thursday, July 23 at 10-11 a.m., as we delve deeper into communicating with our doctors.

To learn how you can join us virtually (by computer or phone), please call Caitlin Bond, UpBEAT Program Coordinator at (740) 566.4680.
