The president of FirstEnergy operations in West Virginia says all Mon Power customers should be back on the grid by the end of the weekend.

James Haney told reporters in Fairmont he's grateful for the patience people have shown so far.

He hopes they understand the challenges that 800 linemen and 1,300 other workers face.

Haney says the terrain that gives West Virginia its natural beauty becomes an impediment after storms like the one that hit Friday.

The more rural and mountainous the area is, the tougher it is to restore power.

Haney says some counties will be on line sooner than Sunday night.

Wood County, for example, was 100 percent dark after the storm. Now, 68 percent has power.

Haney says most Parkersburg customers will have power by Thursday.
