The mayor of Athens and officials with energy company Third Sun Solar praised President Barack Obama's energy policies in a press conference held Thursday afternoon.
Obama campaign officials are calling it the "Made in Ohio" Statewide Energy Tour.
They say it is meant to highlight how communities and businesses have benefited from the president's "all-of-the-above" energy approach.
"The 'all-of-the-above' energy plan brings solar and other renewables into the picture and puts together a forward-looking plan that will allow Ohio and the U.S. to gradually transition to a cleaner and cleaner mix of energy-producing sources," said Gerald Kelly, Communications Director for Third Sun Solar.
Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl also spoke at Third Sun Solar.
"We are home to robust renewable, natural gas, coal, solar and advanced auto industries," Wiehl said. "And we benefit from having a president who is focused on how to grow and expand these domestic industries and reduce our reliance on foreign oil."
Campaign officials say President Obama's energy investments have "supported" thousands of Ohio jobs.
